speaking/oral interaction
7 steps in speaking assignment:

4. Pupil will reflect on assignment and receive feedback
speaking/oral interaction
7 steps in speaking assignment:
5. Pupil will be aware of need of strategies/language
6. Pupil will do speaking assignment again.
7. Pupil will reflect and consolidate
speaking/oral interaction
In an ideal situation pupil will do assignment more than once!
Time management!
After speaking assignment, pick one or two points of improvement for future assignment
Peer evaluation = valuable tool
writing
1. Learning to write
What are the properties of a well-written text?
- clear content
- clear language
- clear structure
writing
2. Multimodal writing
= combination of spoken and written language, infographics, webpages, posters, ...
e.g. write a short paragraph to accompany a poster or a picture
writing
3. Collaborative writing
= pupils work in group/pairs to complete a writing assignment
e.g. write a summary - pupils will need to discuss what to include or not
writing
4. Some tips
* set out clear instructions
* determine exactly:
- What should pupils write? email, summary, note to a friend, = genre
- How long should tex be? How many words, lines?
- What are the structural requirements? Introduction, body consisting of different paragraphs, conclusion?
* provide a good example or make use of a writing frame
= a resource that teachers use in order to show to set out writing and to prompt them to include certain features
writing
4. Some tips
* inform pupils of evaluation criteria (see VD2)
* teach pupils following strategy:
- pre-writing: brainstorm about assignment
- drafting: produce ideas, putting words on paper
- revising: change words, regroup sentences into paragraphs (read text aloud)
- proofreading: peer reading, grammarly/grammarix
- final draft: pupils reread and print out/write final version
writing
A good piece of writing needs a night's rest :)
Pay a lot of attention to correction of written work.
Pick out a few mistakes that pupils should avoid in upcoming written work.
